SMS-based search engine, 'SMS Gyan' has been launched by
Airtel. This service offers on-demand instantaneous information on any
mobile phone in India. Users are allowed to search any term through
simply sending it as an SMS to 55444 by SMS Gyan. After sending an SMS,
users will instantly get SMS responses of their search question on
different topics such as general knowledge, stock info, word meanings,
weather, movie reviews, and song lyrics.
Users can get more accurate search results by applying certain shortcuts such as for lyrics: type LYRICS, for dictionary: type DICT, for Acronyms: type EXPAND, for weather: type WEATHER, and for stock prices: type STOCK. These SMS responses are mechanically removed from the applicable and believable online data sources. Rs 1 will be charged for one query or users can pay Rs 30 as a monthly payment for limitless number of queries. Users will not be charged for queries with no search results.
At present, 'SMS Gyan' service is available in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh in India country. Mobile voice & data services, IPTV, fixed line, DTH, high speed broadband, turnkey telecom solutions for enterprises and national & international long distance services to carriers are offered by the company.
